There once was a child playing in the forest. He had heard amongst the other boys at school that catching frogs was fun so off he went on his own to catch a frog.
When he came across a pond he saw a large frog sitting on a log with its eyes closed. As he quietly approached it, the frog opened its eyes looking right at the boy and startled the child so much that he fell on his bottom. The frog spoke, “Farnum. Farnum is my name. What is yours?” Perplexed, the boy replied, “Peter. How is it that you can speak?”
Farnum invited the boy to sit on the log and join him in enjoying the beauty of the day. As they both took in the fresh, crisp air, Farnum explained to Peter how he had crossed into another dimension where the animals speak. He told Peter about their ways and how the planet and animals work together to create and maintain a harmonious environment. For what seemed like hours, Peter said, “It was a pleasure to meet you. I must get home as it’s getting close to suppertime. May I come back tomorrow, Farnum, and visit with you after school?”
“Should you happen along this path again on your life’s journey, we shall meet again. Know this – as you grow into a man, you’ll undergo many transformations in how you perceive the world. Call on me or ask for Mr. Farnum, my grandfather, and one of us will be there to guide you in your world. Remember, frogs jump forward and we will help you move forward through any change life presents you. Now go, Peter, and enjoy your supper.” With that Farnum leaped into the air and vanished from Peter’s sight.
